Jay having trouble keeping up with his much younger Colombian wife and her passionate pre-teen son, Manny. Claire’s husband, Phil, convinced he’s so cool and “down” with their kids. Mitchell and his partner Cameron have just adopted a Vietnamese baby.
Jay takes advantage of Mannie’s father not showing up in an effort to make peace with him. Phil gets a bike for Luke in order to show Claire that Luke can be trusted. Mitchell and Cameron begin Mommy & Me classes with Lilly.
Phil pushes Jay to go out with him and fly his new model-airplane. While Manny is at their house, Claire must get used to the fact they are actually siblings. In the meanwhile Gloria accompanies Alex in shopping for a dress
Dede (Shelley Long), Claire and Mitchell’s mother, shows up for the first time following a unpleasant incident at Gloria and Jay’s wedding.
